Breathe Easier: Understanding Lung Cancer Screening & Treatment

Thursday, October 30, 2025 (6:00 PM - 7:30 PM) (CDT)

Description

Lung cancer is the leading killer in Nebraska. In 2025, state projections estimate 1,260 new diagnoses and 720 deaths due to the disease. Early detection, when tumors are small and easier to treat, improves outcomes. Yet, Nebraska lung cancer screening rates remain low. CHI Health is hosting three educational events aimed at raising community awareness about lung cancer. Medical experts will lead these sessions, emphasizing the critical role of lung cancer screening and early detection. Breathe Easier: Understanding Lung Cancer Screening and Treatment Thursday, October 30 at 6 p.m. CHI Health St. Francis, Conference Room 2/3 Presenters: Dr. Navdeep Dehal, critical care pulmonologist, and Brandi Ganatra, APRN CHI Health Clinic Pulmonary Medicine (St. Francis) Attendees will learn about the benefits of low-dose CT, a quick and painless screening method that can detect lung cancer before symptoms appear. Leading experts will also share insights into the latest advancements in lung cancer treatment and care, providing practical knowledge and actionable advice. This event is free and open to the public. November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
